More knitting stuff

I have had a big yarn turn out.

All my stash is on Ravelry - I see it is nearly 10 years since I previously attempted this. All the boxes in the garage have been assigned a designation so I can locate what I have.

I have sold masses, donated about 6 full binbags to the Swindon Scrap store.

What remains is mainly sweater quatities or full cones of yarn.

I need to get knitting.

Stash

I've decided to add a blog for my knitting, in case I want to use the main blog for library things again.
I'm having a few days off work currently and have been adding some old stash to Ravelry. This has been surprisingly fun although it is very like cataloging, or indeed adding journals to the link resolver. Photographing (nearly) everything has been a challenge.

I have not managed to get into the bottom row of tea-chests in the garage but I have added the contents of all the cardboard boxes in that area plus the contents of the double knitting box in front of the tumble drier.

So I've added probably around 25% of my stash and am up to 173364.2 metres and just about into 4 figures for expenditure. This excludes anything (mostly older yarn) where the meterage is unknown and of course anything without price stickers.  I am way past SABLE.

Earth Stripe WrapI've been looking at Ravelry trying to assign yarn to projects which is also fun and a great way to avoid the actual knitting. I'm not sure I'll ever find anything to do with all that eighties mohair - I don't think I will be able to sell it and I really don't need (eg) a red mohair jumper. I think there may be even more mohair in one of the tea-chests. I'm contemplating whether I can do a version of the Earth Strip Wrap which uses 10 colours of KSH in 186 rows of pattern. The mohair I have is mostly not that fine and the colours not so subtle so I'm not sure I can make it work.

I've always fancied making this coat from California Patches. The original is in Aran, but a mohair would work and be much lighter to wear. The colours also look more achievable.
